SPECIFIC DUTIES

The Heavy Duty Mechanic repairs heavy-duty diesel trucks and trailers. Must be skilled with air/hydraulic brakes, suspensions, engine transmissions, electronics, and accessories.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Diagnoses issues based on experience, analysis, and testing
• Performs routine service inspections or tests and completes standard maintenance jobs
• Repairs diesel-driven vehicles and motorized equipment
• Maintains cleanliness of vehicles while performing service or repairs
• Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards
• Follows all shop policy, procedure, safety, and environmental rules
• Helps maintain shop appearance and safety standards and ensures the shop runs in an efficient manner by performing duties such as inventory stocking and other general functions
• Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Basic computer and internet skills
• High school diploma or GED required
• Post-secondary automotive training or equivalent work experience
• Two years of large facility experience preferred
• Complete understanding of 12V electrical wiring, diagnostics and repair
• Computer diagnostic experience
• Heavy Duty Truck experience to include but not limited to wheel end, brakes, drivelines, steering, transmission, diesel engines, rear end, transfer cases, etc.
• Unrestricted driver’s license and clean driving record preferred
• CDL preferred
• Professional set of tools
• Highly productive with minimal supervision
• Highly professional and dependable
• Safety oriented
• Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
