Paving Equipment Operator & Laborers

We are looking for individuals who can operate various types of paving equipment. Apply today so we can meet and discuss your qualifications!

Types of Equipment

Asphalt paving equipment including; asphalt paver, screed, power broom, skid steer, smooth drum roller, tack truck, compactors and other miscellaneous heavy equipment.

Qualifications of Operators

  • Use of foot controlled pedals.
  • Ensure no one is in swing path or behind moving equipment.
  • Full range of body motion including handling and operating levers or controls, manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Know limitations of equipment assigned and how to operate each piece in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Sitting for extensive periods of time.
  • Ability to handle the bouncing and jarring of the equipment.
  • Must be able to mount and dismount off vehicles and/or equipment.
  • Coordinate backing of truck and dumping asphalt into paver (Paving Operator)
  • Ability to safely load and unload equipment from trailers. (Operator)
  • Thorough understanding of the paving to include preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, etc. (Paving Operators)
  • Will control material taken into the paver and the depth of material distributed through the machine.(Paving Operator)

Physical Demands for Operators and Laborers

  • Constant physical effort, including standing, is required during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day.
  • Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 50-90 pounds. Manual dexterity to hand-carry generators, construction materials, forms, power tools, and hand tools
  • Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment.
  • Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a construction project.
  • Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
  • Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on a construction site such as oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel and asphalt.

Experience:

  • Paver Screed: (Plus)
  • Paver Operating: (Plus)
  • Experienced Asphalt Finish Roller: (Preferred)

Education:

High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Driver’s License (Required)
